Staff and postdoctoral positions available at BNL

The Photo and Radiation Chemistry Group of Brookhaven National Laboratory's Chemistry Department seeks outstanding candidates for postdoctoral research associate positions and a tenure-track staff position in the group. A Ph. D. in chemistry or a related field is essential; postdoctoral experience is desirable. The successful candidates will be expected to conduct basic research in experiment or theory to explore fundamental questions in chemical dynamics underlying photochemical energy conversion and/or chemistry initiated by short electron pulses. Candidates for the staff position should be prepared to lead new research initiatives in these areas, taking advantage of opportunities to exploit BNL facilities, especially the Laser Electron Accelerator Facility (LEAF) and/or the Center for Functional Nanomaterials. The strongest experimental candidates would also participate in support of existing instrumentation and in development of new instrumentation. Applicants for the staff position should develop a concise description of research plans that can be submitted later; a brief outline in the initial letter will be helpful.
